The deep space adventure movie Spaceman of Bohemia, created by Johan Renck of Chernobyl and Breaking Bad fame and Colby Day, will be released by Netflix in 2020. (In The Blink of an Eye). Day will write the screenplay, while Renck will helm the movie. While Adam Sandler plays the lead in his tenth picture for the streaming service, actor Channing Tatum is also one of the movie’s producers.
Tango Entertainment, which has worked on movies including Never Maybe Sometimes Always, How to Build a Girl, Little Fish, and Little Woods, is the production company behind Spaceman of Bohemia. The project also includes award-winning casting director Nina Gold, recognised for her flawless work on HBO’s Game of Thrones and Netflix’s The Crown. In a press announcement promoting the project, director Johan Renck stated:

What is Spaceman of Bohemia’s storyline?
The 2017 novel of the same name by Czech author Jaroslav Kalfar served as the inspiration for Netflix’s Spaceman of Bohemia. The following is the Netflix adaptation’s official plot summary:
A journey of love, ambition, and self-discovery across the galaxy. Jakub Procházka was reared by his devoted grandparents in the Czech countryside after being abandoned as a young boy and working as a small-time scientist before becoming the nation’s first astronaut. He bravely steps into the broad unknown when a perilous solo trip to Venus offers him the chance at heroism he’s always wanted, as well as a way to atone for his father’s sins as a Communist informant. However, in doing so, he abandons his faithful wife, Lenka, whose love he realises too late that he has sacrificed on the altar of his goals. Jakub is alone in Deep Space when he discovers a perhaps imagined big alien spider that becomes his odd buddy. The two forms a strong and emotional attachment via philosophical discussions about the nature of love, life and death, and the taste of bacon. Who is in the cast of Spaceman of Bohemia?
Adam Sandler, star of Netflix’s Uncut Gems and Hubie Halloween, will play Jakub Prochazka. Jakub is a middle-aged, middle-class Czech guy who gets chosen for his country’s space mission. He plans to explore space and find a weird purple cloud close to Earth. Jakub does not fare well in space, and he frequently appears uneasy and dishevelled. He misses his wife Lenka and worries he is going insane after befriending an alien creature that boarded his ship. Robert Downey Jr. and Joaquin Phoenix were both considered for the role of Jakub Prochazka. Originally, Netflix was interested in hiring Rachel Weisz as Lenka, Jakub’s pregnant wife. Carey Mulligan has been cast instead. Throughout the novel, they may video call one other, but Jakub’s absence, especially during her pregnancy, puts a huge strain on their relationship. Paul Dano, Kunal Nayyar, Isabella Rossellini, and Sinéad Phelps are the final confirmed cast members for Spaceman of Bohemia.
When will Netflix release Spaceman of Bohemia?
For April 19th, 2021, principal photography on Spaceman of Bohemia began in New York City. Production was subsequently relocated to the Czech Republic and was completed by July 1st, 2021. The film is said to have a $40 million budget.
The initial assumption was that Spaceman of Bohemia will be published on Netflix in 2022; however, we have subsequently learnt that numerous movies scheduled for release in 2022, including Spaceman of Bohemia, have been moved back to 2023. The official release date has yet to be confirmed by Netflix.
