The artist and businessman, whose name has been changed to Ye, spoke on a recent edition of the podcast “Drink Champs” and chatted about a variety of subjects, including the passing of George Floyd.

“I saw the Candace Owens’ George Floyd documentary. His two roommates mentioned wanting a tall person like me, and on the day of his passing, he prayed for eight minutes, West recalled. “They administered the fentanyl to him. Look closely; the man’s knee wasn’t even on his neck in that position.

According to the medical examiner who conducted Floyd’s autopsy and supported his initial conclusion that Floyd’s death was caused by “cardiopulmonary arrest” that occurred during “law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression,” former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck during Chauvin trial testimony.

Floyd’s heart condition and usage of fentanyl, according to Hennepin County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker’s testimony, were not the only causes of his demise.

Lee Merritt, a civil rights lawyer, tweeted on Sunday that the Floyd family is thinking about suing West. Merritt has previously represented the Floyd family.

Although one cannot slander the deceased, Merritt tweeted that the family of George Floyd was considering taking Kanye to court for making false comments about how he passed away. “The Floyd family’s case is undermined and diminished if it is claimed that Floyd died from fentanyl instead of the cruelty proved criminally and civilly.”

Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, informed Merritt of West’s remarks and said he intended to file a defamation lawsuit against the public figure, according to CNN.

Merritt claimed that even while it isn’t legally feasible because George Floyd is dead, there are still other legal options open to them, such as the Floyd family suing for purposeful infliction of mental distress.

Merritt declared, “I have assembled a working team to look into [West’s] claims and the source of those allegations.

West’s comments regarding Floyd came in response to criticism of his most recent anti-Semitic social media tweets as well as his choice to wear “White Lives Matter” shirts during a recent fashion presentation with numerous models.

Around the world, there have been demonstrations and demands for justice after seeing a video of Chauvin stooped over Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes.

In April 2021, Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree deliberate homicide, third-degree homicide, and second-degree manslaughter and given a 22-and-a-half-year jail term.
