The psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling by director Olivia Wilde attracted a lot of attention before release, but it was dogged by unfavorable reviews and controversy. Despite this, the movie has now brought in $78.2 million worldwide.

The movie’s fall was most noticeable outside of the US, where Don’t Worry Darling only made $3 million over the weekend while playing on 3,865 screens in 66 other markets. The holdover markets for the movie saw a box office decrease of 45% as a result. Don’t Worry Darling now has an international gross of $35.8 million thanks to the extra $3 million. The film’s main domestic market, the United States, has performed a little better, bringing in $19.3 million over its respectable opening weekend in late September. Don’t worry, Darling has since earned $42.4 million in the United States, increasing its overall income to $78.2 million.

The movie lost 62% of its total audience in its second week after being dethroned by the horror sleeper smash Smile. This significant reduction and the subsequent 45% dip in the overseas market seem to show that viewers are still avoiding the movie. Don’t Worry Darling appears to be an easy success formula at its core. Along with Wilde, the movie also stars Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Gemma Chan, and Chris Pine, and portrays a young couple named Jack and Alice who reside in Victory, a place dubbed an “experimental corporation town.” Styles and Pugh play Jack and Alice in the movie. The movie’s logline states that as the plot develops, Alice realizes that not everything in her nuclear family is as it seems and that she “can’t help but wonder just what they’re doing in Victory, and why.”

In theatres right now is Don’t Worry Darling.
