Skaar, the Hulk’s offspring, made his debut in the She-Hulk finale. And it turns out that the character’s presence was required by Marvel President Kevin Feige.

Did it seem a little out of place to you when Skaar, the Hulk’s kid, was revealed in the She-Hulk finale? That’s because Marvel CEO Kevin Feige insisted on Skaar’s cameo at the finale.

One of the most daring and innovative Marvel series finales was the She-Hulk finale. The fourth wall was dramatically broken in the series’ conclusion of the legal comedy. In the superhero film Deadpool, this method—in which a character addresses the audience directly—was previously employed. The fourth wall breaching in She-Hulk was intended to anticipate internet criticism and make fun of the absurdity of the comedy-drama series itself.

The method’s adoption provided the TV show with a distinct personality and helped differentiate it from the earlier MCU shows. She-Hulk explicitly broke through the fourth wall in the show’s finale to protest the conclusion and the “Marvel formula” and entered Marvel Studios itself. Everything was incredibly meta.

The TV series creator, Jessica Gao, has now shared some details regarding the show’s ending in an interview with Variety. She talked about the return of Daredevil as well as the introduction of Skaar, the Hulk’s kid.

“I’m sure there’s some plan in the future, but I have no clue what that may be,” Gao remarked of Kevin [Feige] being quite explicit about [the inclusion of] Skaar.

It’s a strange irony that the She-Hulk conclusion included a forced “future-establishing” cameo at the end of an episode that was, in essence, totally focused on showing the issues with the MCU template. Audiences and MCU devotees will also ponder why Skaar had to be included at the conclusion.

One blatant possibility is that the MCU is developing a World War Hulk plot. The Hulk, She-Hulk, Skaar, Abomination, and Hulk King might all be powerful foes in the future. It may be Hulk’s turn to finally claim the spotlight, which MCU fans have long desired.
