Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson pay tribute to Harry Potter co-star Robbie Coltrane: ‘There couldn’t have been a better Hagrid’

 Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has paid tribute to his late co-star Robbie Coltrane. In a statement, Daniel called Robbie Coltrane “one of the most fun people I’ve met” and feels “incredibly lucky” to work with him. They also talked about an incident when they were filming The Prisoner of Azkaban.Daniel first co-starred with Robbie at the age of 11 in the 2001 movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Robbie, best known for playing the gentle half-giant Rubeus Hagrid in Harry Potter, died Friday night at the age of 72. His agent, Belinda Wright, said he died in a hospital in his hometown of Scotland. She called him “forensically intelligent” and “brilliantly funny”, among her many tributes to him. One of the funniest people ever, he always made us laugh on set as a kid – everyone hid for hours from the torrential downpour of Hagrid’s cabin. I am incredibly lucky to have had the chance to meet and work with him, and I am deeply saddened by his passing. He was an incredible actor and a lovely person. ”

Daniel and Robbie have starred together in all eight of his Harry Potter films, from 2001’s Philosopher’s Stone to his 2011 Deathly Hallows Part 2. His 1995 GoldenEye and his 1999 The World Is Not Enough. He recently returned to the world of Harry Potter, appearing alongside Daniel and other stars like Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in HBO Max’s Return to Hogwarts 20th Anniversary Reunion special.
