The cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever discusses how the movie pays tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman

Black Panther Chadwick Boseman

One of the most eagerly awaited Marvel films is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, yet fans have a complicated connection with it because Chadwick Boseman, who unfortunately passed away in 2020 after a fight with cancer, won’t be returning. The movie will in reality pay particular tribute to Boseman without replacing T’Challa.

The major actors in the movie, including Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, Angela Bassett, who plays Queen Ramonda, Lupita Nyong’o, who reprises her role as Nakia, Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku, and director Ryan Coogler, talked about what it was like to work on the movie after Boseman passed away. The actors confirmed in a new Marvel-released teaser that the movie will pay particular respect to the actor, as shown in the trailer as well.

The actor Winston Duke adds, “We all experienced an enormous loss when we lost Chadwick,” in the Marvel video. Ryan Coogler, the film’s director, continues by mentioning how Boseman was an “artistic collaborator” to him when they were both working on the first movie. The two would talk about where they wanted the plot to go and how much Chadwick respected other characters, according to Coogler.

In her tribute to the late actor, Angela Bassett emphasized how Boseman understood the significance of Wakanda and the work they were doing for the rest of the world. She went on to remark that through the sequel, they were all able to pay respect to the actor. Lupita Nyong’o also remarked that returning to Wakanda and being able to do it with a feeling of celebration in honor of the late actor was “moving.” Regarding Letitia Wright, who is anticipated to play Black Panther going forward and carry on Chadwick Boseman’s legacy, the actress said, “I’m thrilled that we will honor Chad. He would just want us to encourage everyone.”

Several new characters are introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, such as Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams, alias Ironheart, Michaela Coel’s Aneka, Mabel Cadena’s Namora, Alex Livinalli’s Attuma, and Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, the King of Atlantis. On November 11, 2022, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to open in theatres.
