A new dramedy series called Wellmania is being created by Netflix in collaboration with Australian comedian and actress Celeste Barber. It follows a woman who is compelled to adopt a wellness lifestyle in order to enhance her health. Brigid Delaney and Benjamin Law co-created and produced Netflix’s Wellmania, which is based on her book Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness (The Family Law). Law and Belinda King (The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting) will lead the writing team as well as serve as co-executive producers. The script will be produced and written by Romina Accurso (The Heights, Spreadsheet), and the writers will be Nick Coyle (Sarah’s Channel) and Amy Stewart (Hardball, The Heights).

According to Deadline, the plot summary for Netflix’s Wellmania is as follows:
Liv (Barber), the human tornado, is forced to reconsider her “live fast, die young” mentality when she has a serious health issue. She dives headfirst into a quest for health, doing everything from the normal to the odd in an effort to recover quickly and recapture her former life. The book was praised for shedding light on frequently contentious wellness practises used by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, who has a platform on Netflix thanks to her show The Goop Lab!

Who is the cast of Wellmania?

Celeste Barber was the first member of the Wellmania cast to be announced in December 2021. Back the Outback, The Letdown, How Not to Behave, and more films are among Barber’s credits. Netflix revealed the series’ increased cast in March 2022.

When will Wellmania be available on Netflix?

According to Production Weekly, the film was shot entirely in Gadigal Country, Eora Nation in Sydney, Australia.
Netflix has not officially announced any release dates for Wellmania, however we can exclusively confirm that the series will be released in its entirety on January 15th, 2023. Wellmania on Netflix has been announced to have eight episodes, each lasting half an hour. This is supported by the fact that Brigid Delaney’s book is also set to be published in January 2023. According to a BookBrunch article (paywall), the book “will be released in paperback and ebook in January 2023 to coincide with the Netflix series of the same name.”
