Everything We Know About Jennifer Garner’s Movie Family Leave on Netflix

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner is preparing for her next major Netflix project, Family Leave, a new family comedy film that will begin production before the end of 2022. Jennifer Garner was revealed as the lead of a new family film from Grey Matter Productions, About it Productions, and Linden Entertainment in February 2021 (just ahead of the release of Yes Day on Netflix). Garner’s fourth major Netflix release follows her voice roles in Llama Llama, Yes Day, and 2022’s The Adam Project, in which she co-starred with Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo. The movie adaptation’s writer is Victoria Strouse. Strouse is most recognised for his work on Disney’s Tink, Pixar’s Finding Dory, and ABC’s October Road. This is the author’s second significant Netflix film after the 2019 film Let It Snow with Isabela Merced and Shameik Moore. The feature film’s casting directors are Kim Davis-Wagner and Justine Baddeley Arteta. Producers include Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Nicole King, and Jason Brian Rosenthal.

What is the plot of Family Leave?

The film is based on Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s book Bedtime for Mommy, which was drawn by LeUyen Pham. In 2010, the 32-page children’s book was published.

“The Brenners wake up to a whole family body switch, they rapidly find the same thing has happened to a family on the other side of the world; they must unite with this bunch of strangers and determine how to undo the body switch,” according to Netflix’s initial release.

When will production on Netflix’s Family Leave begin?

Following its lengthy evolution since its initial announcement, we now know that the picture will begin production in December 2022. (although earlier reporting suggested filming would get underway in October 2022). Family Leave will be shot in Los Angeles, California, with the movie securing a tax credit from the California Film Commission in February 2022.
“As an actor, producer, and mother, it’s tough to emphasise what shooting locally means to me and other families in this profession,” Jennifer Garner said of the tax credit. I’ve had the good fortune to work with some of the best crew members of my career here in California, and I’m excited to reconnect with some of my home team mates on this film.”
