Sony Pictures Entertainment Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will be released in theatres in October 2022 and will eventually be available on Netflix in the United States and India in the future months. Here’s when we expect it to happen. Shawn Mendes lends his singing talents to the animated musical hybrid film, which also stars Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley, Scoot McNairy, and Brett Gelman. The film is set in New York City and follows a crocodile who, despite his inability to communicate, can sing. So far, reviews have been mostly positive, with the Washington Post stating that this “family film delivers enough pulse-quickening earworms and warmth to soften even the coldest of hearts.”

When and in which region will Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile be available on Netflix?

In case you missed it, Netflix has agreed to a first-look contract with Sony Pictures that will cover their whole slate beginning in 2022. The agreement states that additional theatrical films will be added to Netflix over time. They’ll keep these films for 18 months before moving them to Disney platforms (whether Hulu or Disney+). The theatrical window for Sony movies in the United States isn’t as tightly defined as Netflix India (see below), and titles have arrived on a variety of dates thus far. For example, Father Stu arrived on Netflix 156 days after its theatrical debut, while Uncharted arrived on Netflix after a 168-day delay.

According to these guidelines, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile should be available on Netflix in the United States between March 12 and March 24 of 2023. You’ll need to visit the cinemas if you want to see the movie before Christmas. Check out our complete guide here for a list of all the Sony movies that will be available on Netflix over the next year or two. Examples include Where the Crawdads Sing, Bullet Train, and The Woman King.
Let’s move on to Netflix India next, as they regularly receive new Sony films within a set time after their theatrical release. Indian Netflix subscribers will only need to wait about 120 days after the first theatrical release for all Sony movies in 2022. If that happens once again with Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, the movie will be added on February 4th, 2023. Instead, many regions—including the UK, much of Europe, and Latin America—must wait anything between two and four years.
