Keanu Reeves Discusses His Dream MCU Superhero Role

Keanu Reeves is a megastar who, surprisingly, hasn’t yet joined the burgeoning ranks of Marvel or DC superheroes. Fans have been speculating about the Matrix actor’s time as a superhero for a while, with several reports of him joining one genre or another spreading without success. The closest he could go to a superhero performance was when he recently voiced Batman in League of Superpets. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he discussed his new comic book Brzrkr and let fans know which Marvel character he’d want to play.

The superhero comic Brzrkr, about an enduring warrior, was created and written by Reeves. It will be made into an anime and a live-action movie with the actor playing the protagonist. Kimmel questioned him about his comic writer geek status when he appeared on the program, and he said, “I might have lost my nerd card as I got older, but when I was younger, I was nerdy with comics.” “I believe though is like when you are a child, you’re a comic book nerd, but then you’re 50, and you’re into comics books, you’re a nerd,” Kimmel responds to the man. After giggling, Keanu says, “All right, am! I’ll act like a nerd.

Reeves said, “10-year-old me would want to — I believe he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider,” when Kimmel subsequently asked him which Marvel superhero a 10-year-old version of himself would want to portray. It is no secret that Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel, has spoken to the actor more than one time about a potential MCU cameo and has acknowledged that the company wants to “find out the appropriate route” for his entrance. Reeves said, “It’s pretty great,” when asked about the inclusion of Marvel flicks in the program. It would be wonderful to be a part of the Marvel movies’ development and current state, which I find to be very magnificent.

Given the 58-year-old actor’s leather jacket-wearing, bike-riding persona, fans have frequently fan-casted him as Ghost Rider, so hearing from Reeves that he too would like to portray the character would probably make many people happy. Actors like Ryan Gosling and Norman Reedus have recently expressed interest in taking on the role of the Marvel superhero. Ghost Rider was previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage in two live-action movies, but Reeves would be the ideal choice if the role were to be recast.
