Lynne Spears apologized for any “suffering” the singer might have had during her 13-year conservatorship, and Britney Spears responded by telling her to “go f*** yourself.”

For the first time since 2008, the “Baby One More Time” hitmaker’s personal and financial liberties were fully reinstated in November 2021 by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge.

A sincere apology from Britney’s family, the 40-year-old singer stated last week on Instagram, “would help give [her] closure” about the legal arrangement she dubbed “abusive” during emotional court testimony last year.

I am very sorry for your agony,” Lynne, 67, commented in response to Britney’s Instagram post asking for an apology for her treatment, which triggered the #FreeBritney campaign. I’ve been sorry for a long time!

Britney apologized to her mum on Wednesday (5 October) in an additional Instagram post.

“For 13 years, I had to visit physicians every week to bring up my history, which made it worse.” she wrote next to a picture with the quotation “One of the keys to happiness is a poor memory.”

I was the motherf***ing saint who was afraid to move because I knew my dad would put me somewhere if I didn’t cooperate, she continued, adding, As for my whole family—including my brother, sister, cousins, aunts, and uncles—they were all either stoned or drunk to their butts, along with the crowd as a whole, goddammit! even in the United States, the “country of the free.”

“Mom, take your apologies and go f*** yourself!” she scrawled farther down.

And to all the medical professionals that messed with my head. I pray that you all go to hell! Kiss my mother’s ass, she said as she concluded her article.

The conservatorship was formed in 2008 due to Jamie Spears, the singer’s father, asking the court to take control of his daughter’s financial and personal life.

He used her issues with her mental health as the reason for the change, and by the end of that year, what had been meant to be a temporary arrangement had become a permanent one.

In August, Britney posted a 22-minute audio tape on YouTube that has since been removed, in which she made further claims about the “premeditated” conservatorship, which she emphasized was “pure cruelty.”

She said that Lynne was the source of her “more rage” rather than Jaime since Lynne “wouldn’t stand out” for her.

On Instagram at the time, Lynne appeared to answer the audio message, writing: “And also, I have done all in my power to get you out of difficulties! I have never turned my back on you and I never will!
