At the Emmy Awards 2022, Zendaya made history by becoming the first black woman to win the “Outstanding Lead Actress award” twice, as well as by dressing glamorously for the occasion. The actor, dressed in beautifully made Valentino clothing styled by Law Roach, wore a black long skirt with pockets and a delicate bow at the waist that evoked an earlier era of Hollywood.
Can you estimate how many days it took to make this beautiful dress? only seven! Roach said in a recent interview with Vogue that Valentino created three designs for Zendaya, bringing the outfit to reality in just a week. None of those “amazing” designs, though, seemed to fit the actor. But he really realised the successful design in his dream. The last piece we put on, Roach remarked, “and I have to give a major gratitude to that team. I woke up in the middle of the night and contacted Valentino, asking them to produce this new dress. Those women put forth such a lot of effort, and they do everything by hand. He explained the source of his inspiration for the look, citing Grace Kelly and classic Hollywood films, adding, “Zendaya and I were also extremely influenced by Valentino’s fall 1987 collection. We were inspired by the bodice of a red dress Linda Evangelista wore in an editorial, but we changed the colour to black and enlarged the skirt.

Zendaya’s gorgeous bulgary jewellery

How can we not mention Zendaya’s gorgeous Bulgari jewellery while discussing her outfit at the Emmys? Roach remarked, “The jewellery is typically the cherry on top, but I wanted her to shine through—all it’s about the girl and the outfit.”

Zendaya’s after party attire

Roach remarked that Zedaya’s after-party attire was “a contemporary take on the Julia Roberts Pretty Woman outfit.”The U-shaped plunging neckline, which “was modelled on a neckline that was seen at Valentino’s couture show,” was the dress’s standout feature, though, in Roach’s words.
