The upcoming period drama series Dangerous Liaisons, which is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, has debuted a new trailer on Starz. The prequel series will explain how the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont met and fell in love on the eve of the French Revolution.

Two young lovers named Camille (Alice Englert) and Valmont (Nicholas Denton) who meet in Paris just before the Revolution are introduced to us in the trailer. Camile is in love and gives Valmont her hand in faith. The current Marquise de Merteuil (Lesley Manville), a strong woman Valmont seduces to win over the court, appears to be linked with Valmont, though. And thus starts a quest of vengeance and passion as Camille and Valmont repeatedly cross paths while attempting to establish themselves among Paris’ wealthy and influential.

A version of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game,” a fitting song for this sensuous historical drama, plays in the background as the new trailer unfolds. The brief trailer from Starz emphasises how passion is a weapon utilised by everyone in this battle for love by featuring plenty of nude bodies. The appeal of the courtroom seduction games is what keeps us returning to historical dramas, and the new teaser for Starz’s Dangerous Liaisons assures viewers they will get what they want from the prequel series.

Victoire, Camille’s closest friend and ally, is played by Kosar Ali in Starz’s Dangerous Liaisons, and Jacqueline de Montrachet is played by Carice Van Houten. Paloma Faith, Michael McElhatton, Nathanael Saleh, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Hilton Pelser, Mia Therapleton, Colette Dalal Tchantcho, Lucy Cohu, Fisayo Akinade, Maria Friedman, and Clare Higgins are also featured in the cast.
