Slow Horses, a drama series featuring Gary Oldman as the reluctant commander of disgraced spies, has announced the premiere date for Season 2 on Apple TV+. The well-received first season of the series debuted in April of last year, but it will already return in a few months with six additional episodes. Season 2 of Slow Horses will recount the tale of the second book in the collection, Dead Lions, which is one of Mick Herron’s best-selling novels and is the subject of the adaptation.

In the spy organisation Slough House, where MI5 dumps anyone they deem unfit, Slow Horses follows its members. The surly and helpless boss of the Slough House, Jackson Lamb (Oldman), is aware that the operatives that wind up there are receiving punishment and are not intended to perform any actual spying. However, the Slough House’s special circumstance also enables them to go undetected when they look into crime schemes involving influential persons, such as MI5 employees.

The Slough House’s unwilling commander used his band of outcasts to look into a tricky hostage scenario in the first season of Slow Horses. The second season’s trailer previously hinted that the upcoming episodes would deal with sleeper operatives returning to duty, endangering the MI5, and compelling the Slough House to take further action.

There was no doubt Slow Horses would be a hit because of its brilliant idea and all-star ensemble, which is why Apple TV+ ordered two seasons before the show’s debut. The early renewal enabled the series’ production crew to complete Season 2 so quickly. Even before the first season was made available, director James Hawes shot all of Season 2. On Friday, December 2, the first two episodes of Slow Horses Season 2 will be available on Apple TV+. New episodes air every Friday after that until the season finale on December 30.
