It’s official. Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theatres in 2024. The actor is not only reprising his role, but he is also bringing Hugh Jackman with him. The Wolverine actor is slated to reprise the legendary character, who died in the 2017 film Logan. The announcement was made on Tuesday.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman hinted at a Deadpool 3 update on Wednesday night. The actors proceeded to describe how the future part of Deadpool would progress, considering Jackman’s Wolverine had died in the 2017 blockbuster Logan.

Reynolds, of course, isn’t the kind to provide an easy answer. Both the stars posted a new video, that opens with them sitting together, knowing that fans would have a lot of questions. They continue by explaining the premise of their film, but at this point, music begins to play and all we can see are their frantically gesticulating hands, so we are still unaware of the story’s specifics. The 2029 setting of Logan makes it a different story unrelated to that.

“Quick explanation video that covers… 1) Timeline questions 2) Logan canon 3) MCU FAQ 4) Whether we can do this all day or not,” Ryan Reynolds wrote as the caption for the movie.

Reynolds explained in a video posted early Wednesday morning that he has done much soul-searching for Deadpool 3, but has come up with ‘nothing.’ A man walks across the frame behind Reynolds, asking, “Hey Hugh, want to play Wolverine one more time?” ” Hugh responds, “Yeah, fine, Ryan.”

Hugh Jackman had purportedly retired from playing Wolverine in 2017, and fans were confident that they weren’t going to see him ever again. Logan was slain and buried as a result of his actions.

The release of Deadpool 3 is slated on September 6, 2024. Shawn Levy, who collaborated with Ryan Reynolds on The Adam Project and Hugh Jackman on Real Steel, will helm the picture. Reynolds and Jackman will also make their MCU debuts in this film, though it’s likely that Wolverine will be recast in the future.
