The most recent Netflix original South Korean crime drama, Narco-Saints, is partially inspired by a real-life event. Kang In gu, a poor businessman striving to support his family in Korea, is the main character of Narco-Saints. Park Eung-soo, a classmate from high school who has a huge business contract, represents hope. In gu is invited to invest in Eung-skate soo’s shipping company. They intended to purchase skate fish from Suriname for next to nothing and resell it for full price on the Korean market. In gu performs the calculations and believes that this will help him with his money problems. When they travel to Suriname, things start to become complicated since In gu finds himself on a clandestine covert operation to assist law enforcement in apprehending a drug lord.
Upon landing in Suriname, In gu had a conflict with Chen Jin, the head of the Chinese gang, who demanded payment of an excessive amount of security money each month. A visit to the church provides him and Eung-soo with a solution to their problem of not knowing how to deal with Chen Jin. They are fortunate to meet the charismatic Pastor Jeon Yo-hwan at the church. He appeared to be an answer to their prayers at the moment, especially after he was able to remove Cheng Jin from their backs.
Sadly, In Gu and Eungsoo were unaware that they had merely leaped from one predicament to another. The situation worsens when cocaine is discovered in their shipment of skates. Eun-soo and In Gu are unable to explain how the cocaine ended up on their skate. is charged with significant drug trafficking offenses after his arrest in Gu. He is sentenced to prison due to Suriname’s corrupt and untrustworthy court system. A National Intelligence Service agent called Choi Chang-ho visits him while he is imprisoned and delivers two shocking revelations to him. First, his close buddy and business partner Eungsoo has passed away, most likely killed by the drug lord responsible for adding cocaine to their cargo. In addition, Pastor Yo-hwan is not the benevolent, devoted Christian he portrays himself to be.
It comes out that he is a notorious drug kingpin who has secretly avoided capture for more than 18 years. In addition, he was the one who started all of their problems and killed his friend. Agent Cho offers to remove the narcotics allegations against In gu, but in return, In gu must complete a suicide mission. Pastor Yo-hwan cannot be arrested in Suriname because of the lack of an extradition agreement, but Agent Cho has a plan to bring him to justice. Pastor Yo-hwan can only be won over if In gu can persuade him to take his company’s operations to the United States.
In gu is forced to go into the lion’s den and use his cunning tongue to capture Pastor Yo-hwan while still keeping his head on his neck. Ha Jung Woo, Park Hae Soo, Hwang Jung Min, and Jo Woo-Jin are among the show’s excellent and skilled cast members. They all accurately portrayed their characters, which is a key factor in why viewers stuck with the program even when the narrative became predictable. If the plot hadn’t been so predictable and needlessly drawn out, this show could have more promise.
The character of Pastor Yo-hwan was interesting because of the clever way he used the Bible to explain his drug dealing. There is an endearing character In gu who can talk his way out of dire circumstances without breaking a sweat. Agent Cho, on the other hand, is a man who genuinely cares about his work and can swiftly adapt his attitude to suit any situation. You better believe he will appear like a classy mobster if that is what he must be. But the program is still worth watching because it makes up for it in the last two episodes by upping the stakes and amplifying the suspense just right.
We saw some incredible action sequences when the second mole in Pastor Yo-squad hwan’s was revealed and Agent Cho was airdropped into Suriname to arrest Pastor Yo-hwan. Watching Byeon Ki-tae display his prowess in a battle with Pastor Yo-bodyguard hwan’s was astounding and utterly captivating. Although it is not the finest criminal thriller we have seen, it does have its moments and is still a decent movie.
