The Crown, a royal drama on Netflix, will premiere its fifth season on November 9. The date was revealed at Netflix’s Tudum global fan event, which also featured a sneak peek at the third season of Bridgerton and a first look at Shonda Rhimes’ prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which focuses on Queen Charlotte’s rise to fame and power.

While King Charles III takes the throne, the monarchy may be looking to the future, but Netflix is getting ready to take us back in time with the impending release of The Crown season five. The 1990s, a period of intense scandal for the royal family due to the then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s public divorce, will be the subject of the upcoming instalment.

The Crown usually premieres in November, and Dominic West will play Charles and Elizabeth Debicki will play Diana in the upcoming series. Josh O’Connor’s character of Charles is replaced by 52-year-old The Wire actor West, while Emma Corrin is taken over by The Night Manager actor Debicki.
In place of Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh, Jonathan Pryce will play the part of the Queen in place of Olivia Colman, and Lesley Manville will play Princess Margaret in place of Helena Bonham Carter.

The series, which will premiere in November and is directed by Burton and stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, chronicles 16-year-old Wednesday’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Additionally, viewers were able to watch a clip from the second season of the critically acclaimed fantasy series Shadow and Bone on Netflix, which is based on Leigh Bardugo’s immensely popular Grishaverse books.

The 10 episodes of The Crown will launch simultaneously, as was revealed during Netflix’s Tudum worldwide fan event over the weekend, which also announced upcoming series and movies from the streamer. Fans will also get to see a brand-new cast as the royal family enters a new decade. Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth II in season five, Dominic West will take over for Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, and Elizabeth Debicki will replace Emma Corrin as Diana. Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret round out the cast.
