Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death begins filming. It appears that the show is getting ready to launch once more. The historical pirate comedy’s much-anticipated return has officially started filming for its second season, according to the show’s star, Samba Schutte.

Roach portrayed by actor Schutte tweeted on his personal Twitter page, he shared a picture of a set chair bearing his character’s name on the back. The text, which read “Day 1 ahoy,” appeared with the photograph in black and white to indicate that filming had started. This occurs a month after the show’s creator and writer, David Jenkins, teased the upcoming second season by posting a screenshot of the episode’s script on his personal Twitter account.

Our Flag Means Death, which made its HBO Max debut back in March, was created by David Jenkins and is largely based on the real-life experiences of its real-life characters. It is centred on the Golden Age of Piracy and is set in the early 18th century. The comedy focuses on Stede (Rhys Darby) and his crew in particular as they attempt to establish a reputation as pirates and come into contact with Taika Waititi’s iconic Blackbeard.

The first season of Our Flag Means Death, which had ten episodes, received favourable reviews from both critics and viewers, who applauded the show for its representation of LGBTQ+ people. A groundswell of people clamouring for a swift season 2 renewal was a result of the comedy’s growing popularity after its finale, which was also reflected in its viewership. Our Flag Means Death was renewed by HBO Max in June, and it appears that the cast is finally prepared to resume production.

Blackbeard stealing Stede’s ship causes a dramatic cliffhanger as season one comes to a close. Because Stede destroyed his heart, he also reverts to his former self. This conclusion validates the important adjustments made to the original story for Our Flag Means Death, which affect the real tale of Stede and Blackbeard and may set up a major clash for the following season. Jenkins has made light of the fact that Blackbeard is navigating unknown emotional waters. Additionally, there are concerns regarding Jim (Vico Ortiz) and Lucius (Nathan Foad), who was tossed overboard by Blackbeard.
