Fans of the Karate Kid series are keen to learn whether a sixth season is on the way after Cobra Kai’s fifth season debuted on Netflix earlier this month. After the most recent season, Terry Silver, the show’s villain, is taken down by his pupils and revealed to be a liar and cheater, and it is hinted that John Kreese, the show’s main antagonist, may return. Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Cobra Kai, but its creator Jon Hurwitz recently hinted at impending ambitions (via Deadline).

According to Hurwitz, “We’re still working out all the kinks with Sony and Netflix, and we don’t have an official Season 6 to announce yet.” We can only say that we think about these individuals regularly. Obliterated is currently under development for Sony and Netflix. That project is currently in its second month of production, and I predict that it will astound everyone. However, we remain optimistic that more Cobra Kai episodes are on the way. Given that we are now working on that other program, there may be a slight delay, but if all goes as planned, there shouldn’t be too much of one.”

According to Hurwitz, the Cobra Kai creative team will begin work on their Ferris Bueller project shortly, “but it will not influence any Cobra Kai moving forward.” It’s basically about focusing on Obliterated, finishing our production there, and then determining the best course for further Cobra Kai, he said.

Sony revealed a new Karate Kid movie will be released in 2024 earlier this month, calling it “the comeback of the original Karate Kid series.” Given that Cobra Kai is presently successful and has many of the original cast members, including Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) and William Zabka, some fans were perplexed by this (Johnny Lawrence). Hurwitz affirmed that the new film is unrelated to Cobra Kai, though.
