The popular Hulu and FX series Reservation Dogs has been confirmed for a third season on the streaming service. Currently in the middle of its second season, the well-liked comedy from renowned co-creators Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi has been making steady progress since its award-winning first season last year. The final episode of Season 2 will air on September 28th.

Reservation Dogs debuted on the scene in 2021 as a huge victory for indigenous representation. The series focuses on four Native American Oklahoma teenagers who attempt to loot and flee to the fabled California. Elora Danan (Devery Jacobs), Bear Smallhill (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai), Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis), and Cheese (Lane Factor) continued to be in mourning over their friend’s passing and abandoned their aspirations to make their own place in the world in Season 2.

The first season of the show was a critical success, making many year-end lists, winning two Independent Spirit Awards, a Peabody Award, the AFI Award, and receiving nominations for the Critics’ Choice Award and the Golden Globe. Similar praise was shown for Season 2, which received a perfect score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Next year, Season 3 will be available exclusively on Hulu, and if the early August release dates for Seasons 1 and 2 are any indicator, Season 3 will likely be available in 2023 around the same time. Nick Grad, FX’s president of original programming, remarked, “Reservation Dogs continues its remarkable run with critics, fans and awards all recognizing the singular brilliance of the series created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi.”
