 Angelina Jolie arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday to  help those affected by heavy rains and floods in Pakistan.  In videos and photos, she was seen shaking hands and chatting with people.

 Floods that hit Pakistan in mid-June  claimed  hundreds of thousands of lives, damaged hundreds of thousands of homes, and left half a million  homeless, according to the Associated Press. Angelina visited Dadu, one of the worst-hit areas since July, where  nearly 300 people have died from water-related illnesses.

Jolie has been deeply involved in humanitarian work since the early 2000s. As an ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, she has visited many refugee camps around the world. She has also advocated education for all children, especially girls. From 2005 to 2007, Jolie funded the creation of the  National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children for the U.S. Commission on Refugees and Immigrants. In November 2013, Jolie received the Academy’s prestigious Jean Hersholt Humanitarian  Award. In June 2014, she was named a Maid of Honor for her contributions to British foreign policy and her campaign to end sexual violence in war zones.
