The AFI Fest has already set a date for the upcoming Selena Gomez documentary.

The 36th iteration of the festival in Los Angeles will go off with the Apple Original movie Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me. The idea was recently revealed last week on social media by the singer, actor, and producer, who said she was working on a movie with Apple TV+.

The film’s director, Alek Keshishian, is also the brother of Gomez’s manager, Aleen Keshishian, and was responsible for the legendary documentary Madonna: Truth or Dare. Gomez’s “journey from the heights of inconceivable superstardom through the lows of a very personal crisis and back again” is supposedly the subject of her album My Mind and Me.

Keshishian stated in a statement that he had “no interest” in producing a conventional pop documentary and that Selena also shared his desire to portray something more real. Her bare vulnerability captivated me. I had no clue that it would turn into six-year labor of love at the time.

The president and CEO of AFI, Bob Gazzale, referred to My Mind and Me as “a film as deeply compelling as it is intimate.” “We are pleased to collaborate with her, Alek, and Apple to cast a light upon her path in this wonderfully produced celebration of optimism, vulnerability, and hopefulness,” he continued. “Selena is a worldwide powerhouse in art and entertainment.

Producing the documentary for the Apple Original Film are Interscope Films and Lighthouse Management & Media.

The Fabelmans, a movie directed by Steven Spielberg, will conclude AFI Fest on November 6 at the TCL Chinese Theater. Nov. 2–6 is the 36th AFI Fest’s date.
