The actor’s portrayal of the devoted Sorcerer Supreme, usually known as just Wong, has turned into a unifying theme across Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wong made cameos in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law on Disney+, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame after appearing in both films.

Wong claimed that Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel, had texted him saying that the No Way Home franchise was “quickly becoming the WCU,” or the Wong Cinematic Universe, on the No Way Home red carpet last year.

The Wong Cinematic Universe has gained support from Marvel fans on Twitter, and Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) even acknowledged the interest on Twitter.

In episode four, Jen Walters tells the camera, “God, everybody loves Wong.” “It’s like giving the show a week’s worth of Twitter armor.”

I find it incredibly encouraging, you know? Wong adds about the publicity on social media. “I’m thankful that the Marvel fans have warmed up to me. In terms of acting, I take my profession extremely seriously, but I also truly love having fun in this world.

I have the email and am debating obtaining it as wallpaper. I told the internet no, and now it’s all over the place. But he did a pretty kind thing by saying that. When I receive the call from him, I feel like an overjoyed puppy, you know? “Hey, would you like to be in X?” type of thing. And that’s because I’m such a big Marvel fan, simply personally. Reading Spider-Man comics as a child, then simply settling into this world and discovering a character by the name of Wong. I just like the direction this job is taking me. It simply peels away another layer of the onion with every initiative they want me to participate in, you know? You learn a little bit more about the Sorcerer Supreme’s peculiarities.
