At the 74th Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awards ceremony, Succession took home the Emmy for Best Drama Series. The battle for the Emmys only becomes tougher every year in the Golden Age of Television. Hollywood gathered to honour television’s top talent at this year’s ceremony, which featured outstanding talent from all walks of life.

The other contenders for Best Drama Series at the 2019 awards ceremony included Better Call Saul, which just finished its six-season run on AMC, Euphoria, one of 2022’s most streamed series, Ozark, which also ended its run on Netflix, Severance, the mind-bending Apple TV+ series, Squid Game, the beloved Stranger Things, and Showtime’s breakout hit Yellowjackets.

The fourth season of Succession is currently being filmed for HBO. On December 12, the third season came to a close with a jaw-dropping climax in which the Roy family took turns stabbing one other in the back and plotted to grab what they thought was rightfully theirs. The Roy family, led by Logan Roy (Cox), an ageing and cruel patriarch who won’t relinquish control of his multimedia conglomerate Waystar Royco despite the fact that each of his children has their sights set on his position, is the subject of the television show.

Matthew Macfadyen won the prize for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series earlier in the evening. The most nominations of the evening were for the series, which also included nominations for Kieran Culkin, Nicholas Braun, and Kieran Cox alongside Macfadyen. Sarah Snook and J. Both Smith Cameron are up for the Outstanding Supporting Actress award.
