Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie return to Old Hollywood in Damien Chazelle’s most recent epic, Babylon. Last week, first-look images from the forthcoming movie were released, revealing the Once Upon a… impending on-screen reunion of the La La Land Oscar winner’s co-stars in Hollywood. However, on September 13, a new trailer was unveiled, which increased anticipation for the film.
It’s written in the stars, I am a star, replies Robbie in the new trailer when Diego Calva’s character says that he wants to “be a part of something larger.” The footage then switches to a stylish Pitt, sipping martinis and exploding champagne bottles.
“No actors or dogs allowed” posters were posted on every door when Pitt first came to Los Angeles, he recalls. “I adjusted that,”
The intense teaser continues to depict partying, argumentative exchanges and a distraught Robbie informing Calva’s character that she is “in a lot of danger.” Watch the full trailer below.
Babylon follows Pitt, Robbie, and a star-studded ensemble through Hollywood’s transition from silent films to “talkies,” with an emphasis on the art and extravagance of the era. The 1920s Jazz Age is when the movie is set in Los Angeles.
The official synopsis continues:
The 1920s Los Angeles-set original epic BABYLON, directed by Damien Chazelle, also stars Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, and Jean Smart in addition to Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Diego Calva. It follows the rise and fall of several people at a time of unrestrained luxury and depravity in early Hollywood. This is a tale of excessive ambition and excess.
Release day for Babylon is slated for December 25.
