Fans of “Willow” have long wondered how the upcoming Disney+ series will relate to Val Kilmer’s adored Madmartigan. And Christian Slater provided the solution. The actor shocked fans on stage at the D23 Expo when he revealed the new character.

Slater’s character is somehow connected to Madmartigan as a “friend,” as series actor Warwick Davis explained, but more information will be disclosed later. You’re so animated, I can’t wait for you to meet him; he’s fantastic,” Davis added.

Slater seems to be quite impressed with the freedom to act independently on set. This was an amusing persona, according to Slater. We got to have some improv, and it was great coming up with stuff on the fly.

A new trailer was also made available, including more Brownies, trolls, and other things. In their respective roles as Willow Ufgood and Sorsha, Davis and Joanne Whalley return. The series, which is set in the same magical universe as the first movie, follows an unlikely band of heroes as they set out on a perilous mission to rescue the planet.

Ellie Bamber (“The Serpent”), Tony Revolori (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”), Ruby Cruz (“Mare of Easttown”), Erin Kellyman (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”), Amar Chadha Patel (“The Third Day”), and Dempsey Bryk (“The Birch”) are among the actors who have appeared in the series.

In the original 1988 version of “Willow,” Davis and Whalley appeared alongside Val Kilmer, Billy Barty, and Jean Marsh. The Howard-directed movie follows Willow, a budding magician, as he assists in defending a baby girl who is tasked with uniting the kingdoms and slaying an evil queen.

The original picture, which was a cooperative effort between Lucasfilm, MGM, and Imagines Entertainment, was nominated for two Oscars in the sound editing and visual effects categories.

The Disney+ series is the first non-“Star Wars” endeavor from Imagine Entertainment and Lucasfilm since the firm was acquired by Disney. Executive producers for the “Willow” sequel series with Howard, Michelle Rejwan, and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy are “Willow” showrunners Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle. The original movie’s writer, Bob Dolman, works as a consultant producer.

On Nov. 30, “Willow” will make its Disney+ debut. View the complete trailer below.
