At D23 on Saturday, Ahsoka received a close-up as Dave Filoni and Star Wars steward Jon Favreau discussed the upcoming series.

The Mandalorian’s live-action season two episode “The Book of Boba Fett” featured Rosario Dawson’s character for the first time. She had previously been a fan favorite in animation, and Favreau and Feloni used Mandalorian to test if viewers would like to see more of the character in live-action.

With the work we’ve been doing, the character has “found fresh legs,” according to series creator Feloni. “The Mandalorian set it up brilliantly.”

The head of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, as well as Favreau commended Filoni’s aptitude for storytelling and development. The new show is described by Favreau as Filoni’s “magnum opus.”

Along with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Eman Esfandi, the series also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the animated character Ezra Bridger, who transitions to live-action in the show. Ray Stevenson portrays a villain, while Hayden Christensen is back as Anakin Skywalker.

The creator Jon Watts and star Jude Law of Skeleton Crew then briefly discussed the program while displaying a still from Laws’ role. The narrative occurs during the reign of the New Republic. The story revolves around a group of young people seeking to go home after being lost in the Star Wars universe.

Favreau claimed that while filming the Spider-Man movies, in which he also featured, he first broached the subject of Star Wars with Watts. Perhaps Watts might helm one or two episodes, according to Favreau. Watts said, “Oh, we have a completely developed vision for what we would like to do,” as he had additional suggestions.

The team also provided sneak peeks at two animated programs, including Tales of the Jedi and The Bad Batch, the second season of which premieres on January 4, 2023.
