‘Virgin River’ Season 5 will be full of unexpected twists in addition to its diverse cast

Virgin River Season 5

Netflix’s most anticipated romantic drama Virgin River had been renewed for the fifth season after it’s fourth season got aired on July 20, 2022 . Based on Robyn Carr’s novel series of the same name, the series follows the story of Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse who moves to a small town, Virgin River to start a new life, and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), owner of town’s local restaurant and former Us Marine. There is no doubt that this show will continue to be a massive hit on Netflix. The show enjoyed tremendous popularity after its second and third seasons were released in November 2020 and July 2021, respectively. Netflix has confirmed that the show will keep entertaining us with its fourth and fifth season.

The fourth season of Netflix’s Virgin River began with Benjamin Hollingsworth’s character, who was recently imprisoned for shooting Jack in the Season 2 finale. Brady’s time in the prison yard, while brief, was certainly memorable. Netflix has confirmed that season 5 will feature a more diverse cast than previous seasons, with Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of drama, telling Deadline, “I think it’s fair to say that [diversity] is going to continue to be a focus and something the audience will get to experience more in season five. It’s definitely a priority, and I think you will see, as we expand the Virgin River community, that there will be more diversity and inclusion.”

Martin Henderson had just finished shooting the beginning of Season 5. He said in an interview with Glamour, “The baby stuff gets really interesting. Obviously, I’m speaking without having read any of those actual scripts, but we’ve got some really nice…a lot of stuff gets wrapped up and then there’s a whole bunch of new beginnings, new story lines. He added, “I can’t give too much away. I know someone might move away. Someone might leave.”

He added: “What I’m hoping in season 5 is actually seeing [Mel and Jack] get closer together through adversity rather than being pushed apart, because I actually think the audiences love that. You’ve got to have some bumps, but seeing them mature and deepen their love is going to be nice.”

Breckenridge, for her part, told New Beauty that season five had some of the best episodes yet. She said, “I think this season has started out well, and we’re getting into a few episodes soon that are pretty heavy. They’re really intense and I think that they’re some of the best episodes we’ve ever done.”
