Netflix went on a spending spree at the Berlin European Film Market in 2021, and one of its biggest acquisitions was a $25 million deal for the global streaming rights to The Good Nurse. The Good Nurse, starring Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, will be released on Netflix in October 2022. Here’s what you should know. Tobias Lindholm, the BAFTA-nominated Danish writer-director known for his work on Borgen, Mindhunter, and The Hunt, is directing the film, which was written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who was nominated for an Oscar for her screenplay on the war drama 1917.

Together with FilmNation, Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa produced the film. Before it was released in the open market at the EFM, the film had been prearranged with Lionsgate. The news that Netflix planned to purchase the film was first reported by Deadline.

The Good Nurse on Netflix will recount the true events surrounding the hunt for and eventual capture of Charles Cullen, one of history’s most prolific serial killers suspected of killing up to 400 patients during his 16-year nursing career and known as “The Angel of Death.” Before he was charged with being responsible for up to 300 patient deaths spread across 9 hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania over a 16-year period, Cullen, a married father, was thought to be a trustworthy caregiver. When will Netflix release The Good Nurse?
