Another high-profile thriller will be released on Netflix soon, this time starring and produced by Mila Kunis. The adaptation of author Jessica Knoll’s best-selling novel of the same name, Luckiest Girl Alive, was recently announced for release on Netflix in October 2022. Mike Barker, who directed and executive produced Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and worked on the Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, directed Netflix’s Luckiest Girl Alive. Barker has also worked on shows like Fargo, Outlander, and Broadchurch.
Bruna Papandrea and Jeanne Snow of Made Up Stories and Erik Feig and Lucy Kitada of Picturestart will produce the film (The Hunger Games, La La Land). In fact, even before the book was published in 2015, Papandrea and Feig were attached to adapt Luckiest Girl Alive. This isn’t Netflix’s only Made Up Stories project; Anatomy of a Scandal and Pieces of Her are both currently in production.
What is the Luckiest Girl Alive storyline?
As previously stated, Luckiest Girl Alive is a 2015 adaptation of the bestselling book of the same name written by Jessica Knoll. Since then, the thriller has sold over a million copies and been translated into 38 languages.

Ani FaNelli appears to have it all: a glamorous job at a glossy magazine, an enviable figure with an equally enviable wardrobe, and a handsome fiancé from a prestigious blue-blood family. Ani FaNelli, on the other hand, is a creation, a veneer of perfection carefully crafted in an attempt to distance herself from a shocking, sordid past. As her wedding approaches, a documentary producer invites Ani to discuss the terrifying incident that occurred when she was a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School. When will Netflix release Luckiest Girl Alive?
The film was still in pre-production as of June 2021, but filming began a month later on July 14th, 2021, in New York City. After only a month of principal photography, Luckiest Girl Alive is now in post-production as of August 14th.
We can now confirm that Luckiest Girl Alive will be available on Netflix on Friday, October 7th, 2022, thanks to the release of Netflix’s 2022 film slate. Luckiest Girl Alive will be available in select theatres beginning September 30th, 2022, prior to its Netflix release.
