Paramount+ has revealed the cast for their new tv show The Burning Girls as reported by Deadline. Samantha Morton, a two-time Academy Award nominee, and Bridgerton star Ruby Stokes will star in the drama, which is based on C.J. Tudor’s 2021 novel of the same name. Apparently, production will start this week.

The show will centre on Reverend Jack Brooks, who relocates with her daughter Flo (Stokes) to a new community. The two, who come seeking a fresh start, rapidly learn that the town has a troubled past and numerous hazardous secrets buried just beneath the surface. While Stokes’ character is a youngster who “marches to the beat of her own drum,” Morton’s is portrayed as a single mother tormented by a tragedy.

Films by Morton include Synecdoche, New York, In America, and Minority Report. Along with Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink, she will also star in the next Darren Aronofsky movie The Whale, which recently had a big success at the Venice Film Festival. She made a stir in the world of television by portraying the eagerly awaited antagonist Alpha on The Walking Dead, and she even repeated the part in the spin-off Tales of the Walking Dead. The Serpent Queen, a new Starz series that will debut later this month, will also feature her as a star.

Stokes’ supporting character in the titular family of the popular Netflix romance drama Bridgerton is perhaps what makes her most well-known. She recently left the show, though, to play the lead in Lockwood & Co. on Netflix, which is based on Jonathan Stroud’s young adult novel series of the same name. Additionally, she has been cast in the upcoming movie Black Dog.
