Disney’s MCU X-Men Announcement Next Week

According to a recent post from Disney, an announcement about the X-Men for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is reportedly coming next week. 2019 saw the first time that Marvel Studios had access to mutants thanks to Disney’s acquisition of the 20th Century, which gave Marvel the X-Men film rights back. The X-entry Men’s into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the subject of much rumor and conjecture over the past three years. Marvel Studios has not yet made any formal declarations about an MCU X-Men remake. This includes the Multiverse Saga slate being shown at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022 with the mutants conspicuously missing.

However, in Phase 4 of the MCU, mutants begin to play a part. The dramatic revelation revealing Kamala Khan is a mutant was part of Ms. Marvel’s grand conclusion. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Patrick Stewart made a triumphant comeback as Professor X. Additionally, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law recently appeared to confirm Wolverine’s inclusion in the MCU, which caused quite a stir on the internet. The only X-Men-related project that Marvel Studios has confirmed is Deadpool 3, in which Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool.

Now that Disney has sparked new rumors about an X-Men announcement, Marvel fans are in a frenzy once more. As a reminder that next week’s Disney+ Day is on September 8, the official Disney+ Twitter account shared a Wolverine gif with its 4.6 million followers. An MCU X-Men announcement may occur then or at D23, which takes place from September 9–11, as a result of Wolverine’s selection, rumors have started to circulate.

This could turn out to be another instance of Marvel fans having unrealistic expectations based on a positive post. The Wolverine gif was chosen by the Disney+ social media team because it features his six claws protruding. Using Wolverine’s claws follows a similar trend as the article the day before, which featured a Monsters, Inc. figure with seven fingers. Of course, given the intense excitement in the news of an MCU X-Men movie, there is still a potential that the social media team selected Wolverine on purpose to generate more buzz for Disney+ Day and D23 2022.

It’s more probable that D23 will provide an official MCU X-Men announcement than Disney+ Day. It would be better for everyone if expectations were moderated, though. The most likely conclusion of any X-Men news at D23 is the sharing of an X-Men ’97 trailer or release date. Without mentioning mutants, Marvel has a whole slate of projects they can update fans on during D23, including significant Fantastic 4 news. Announcing the MCU X-Men will happen someday, but only time will know how soon.
