In response to the actor Will Smith’s slap on him during this year’s award ceremony back in March, comedian Chris Rock allegedly snubbed an offer to host the Oscars next year. The Arizona Republic said that Chris equated going back to the Oscars to returning to the crime site on Sunday during a comedy act at the Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.
The comedian compared asking the late Nicole Brown Simpson to “go back to the restaurant” where her mother had left a set of glasses the night of her death to the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial when he was talking about the hosting offer. Chris said that Smith’s slap stung about the actor’s portrayal of Muhammed Ali in the 2001 film Ali, and he added, “Greater than I is he. Nevada would not permit a battle between Will Smith and me.”
Following the slapping incident, Chris said that he declined the chance to take part in a Super Bowl commercial. Comedian Chris cracked a joke on Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shorn head when presenting the best documentary feature Oscar at the 2022 Oscars.
Smith approached the stage and slapped Chris in response to his admiration for Pinkett Smith’s portrayal of an alopecia areata patient in “G.I. Jane 2.”, Chris. Keep my wife’s name out of your f**king lips, Smith yelled as he went back to his seat. Smith won Best Actor at the 94th Academy Awards a short while after the event. Smith apologized to the Academy and his fellow candidates when winning his first-ever Oscar for best actor (main part) in “King Richard,” but he did not name Chris.
Smith apologized to Chris Rock and the Academy on his social media account, nevertheless, after facing criticism for his disruptive behavior.
“Chris, I want to publicly apologize to you. I erred and went against the rules. Because they did not represent the sort of guy I hope to become, I feel humiliated.” Smith published on Instagram. I acted in an awful and excuseless manner at the Academy Awards last night. Jokes made about me at work are common, but one regarding Jada’s health was too much for me to take, and I became upset “Smith apologized and said.
