Weird: The Al Yankovic Story Trailer

Roku Daniel Radcliffe Weird Al Yancovic

The great actor has since entirely redesigned his appearance several times in the years since he first donned those fabled spectacles and rescued the world as the kid wizard in the “Harry Potter” series. He played the hunchbacked Igor in “Victor Frankenstein,” a farting corpse relearning how to live in “Swiss Army Man,” a quiet man who has guns glued to his hands in “Guns Akimbo,” and most recently a charmingly mustache-twirling monster in “The Lost City.” But Radcliffe is about to play his most bizarre part to date.

The icon known as Weird Al is getting the biography and the lead actor that someone of his caliber unquestionably deserves. He became a childhood staple for many generations, particularly this ’90s youngster who got to experience his mid-career revival during those years. Thankfully, the production’s creative team is still well aware that any tell-all account of the legendary musical parody talent should be, well, a parody in and of itself. There’s a new rival coming for that title, so “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” better watch out.

Johnny Cash may have had that boyish charm and the capacity to crush hearts with just his guitar, and Elvis may have had that enchanting voice, but all of them are nothing compared to Weird Al Yankovic’s skills and his unrelenting mission to parody every well-known song ever written. His 1979 masterpiece “My Bologna” was thus created, and the rest is history, as they say. But is it?
