Ewan McGregor to lead the upcoming Paramount+ drama ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’

In the British drama series “A Gentleman in Moscow,” Hollywood superstar Ewan McGregor has been cast in the title role. The same-titled, internationally best-selling novel by Amor Towles was adapted into the Paramount TV series. During a session at the Edinburgh TV Festival, CEO of Paramount Premium Group David Nevins announced the casting.

McGregor will portray Count Alexander Rostov, who discovers in the years following the Russian Revolution that his illustrious past has put him on the wrong side of history, according to the entertainment website Deadline. Following the Russian Revolution, history, Rostov is imprisoned in an attic room in an opulent hotel while he manages to avoid death. He is forced to watch the world go by while he is trapped inside, and the threat of death prevents him from ever leaving. He will embark on a voyage of self-discovery as a result of his captivity as the world around him changes quickly.

McGregor expressed his excitement about having the opportunity to play such an intriguing role and present the narrative to viewers. He said, “It’s an amazing, wonderful story, and I am very excited to get to play such a fabulous role.” After providing the voice of Sebastian J. Cricket in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, McGregor will make a comeback to on-screen acting in George Mallory’s film, Everest.

Entertainment One will produce A Gentleman in Moscow through Tom Harper’s Popcorn Storm Pictures, in collaboration with VIS, Paramount Global’s international studio subsidiary. Given that he has read the best-selling book, Harper expressed his excitement about working on the project. At the Edinburgh TV festival, David Nevins, chairman and CEO of Paramount Premium Group, announced the casting announcements. The show will make its debut on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ worldwide. Showrunner and executive producer Ben Vanstone and Harper wrote A Gentleman in Moscow (Peaky Blinders). The series’ executive producers will include Towles and Xavier Marchand.
