Netflix has renewed The Umbrella Academy for a fourth and final season

The Umbrella Academy

Netflix has renewed “The Umbrella Academy” for a fourth and final season, the streaming service announced Thursday morning. The renewal comes one month after the comic-based drama’s Season 3 premiere, which debuted at #1 in Netflix’s English-language TV weekly rankings with 124.5M hours viewed and spent five weeks in the Top 10.
I’ve heard that the new season of the series, produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, has been written in large part. Steve Blackman, who has overseen The Umbrella Academy since its inception, will return as executive producer and showrunner. He is also developing new series for Netflix, including Horizon Zero Dawn and Orbital, as part of a large new overall deal for his newly launched Irish Cowboy banner.

Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore are among the cast members who will return for Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy. The fates of Adam Godley, Genesis Rodriguez, and Britne Oldford’s characters were left up in the air in the Season 3 finale, so they are not included on the list. The fitting conclusion to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we started five years ago will be seen by the incredibly devoted fans of The Umbrella Academy, Blackman said. But before we come to that conclusion, we have an incredible season four story in store for the audience that will keep them riveted until the very end.

Along with Blackman, executive producers Jesse McKeown, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber, and Beau Bauman, as well as co-executive producers Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, will make a comeback. One of the top three most watched Netflix original series of the year, The Umbrella Academy, premiered in 2019.
