Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Johnny Depp ‘UNLIKELY to return as Captain Jack Sparrow lailasnews 1280x720 1

Fans start to question whether Johnny Depp will be returning to his biggest franchise now that the turmoil surrounding Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard has largely subsided. Although it hasn’t been officially proven, it is widely believed that it could be true. The longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer has announced that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is going on, so there is some positive news on the Pirates front. The fact that Ted Elliot, one of the original writers, will pen the screenplay for the movie, is even greater news. Elliot served as a writer on four separate films in the series.

Jerry Bruckheimer acknowledged his delight in having Elliot return. Bruckheimer stated, “I’m extremely excited, it’s going to be fantastic. We’re just beginning to put this together. The script is still being developed, although Ted Elliott, one of the original authors who created the previous one, is penning it. He develops fantastic characters and offers amazing stories, and he has a superb grasp of the language. That’s fantastic news because we had previously stated that the brand will effectively be restarted by a few spinoffs. Elliot could be penning the major plot of the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 sequel, while Margot Robbie is said to be playing the protagonist in an all-female Pirates movie.

Jack Sparrow should return for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, as the series may not be as successful without him. We will maintain a cautious optimism regarding the Margot Robbie-led movie because the female reboot trend hasn’t always succeeded. She is a phenomenal actor, though, so she could wind up elevating the franchise to levels it hasn’t yet reached. Nevertheless, we hope Bruckheimer has a strategy in place to try to persuade Depp to reprise his most enduring performance. He had declared his intention to stay away because Disney failed to support him in his litigation against Amber Heard. In any case, there may be a Jack Sparrow appearance and a fake-out in the works.

Another series revival, remake, or sequel is Pirates of the Caribbean 6, which is suddenly gaining a lot more traction. There have undoubtedly been many reboots and remakes throughout the years, but there now appears to be a solid formula for rebooting a series successfully. Top Gun: Maverick and Prey’s tremendous success is evidence of this. Top Gun: Maverick was made by Bruckheimer, who is certainly interested in bringing the Pirates series back.

For Pirates of the Caribbean 6, we hope that Johnny Depp will make a return. It would be OK if he had a brief appearance, but fans would be demanding much more if he plays a significant role in the movie. Bill Nighy was reportedly in discussions to return as Davy Jones, although that information hasn’t been verified just yet. Furthermore, it’s unclear if those discussions were about the Robbie-led spinoff or this major sequel movie. We anticipate his coming back in any case. Even while we do not yet know what Jerry Bruckheimer and Ted Elliot’s future holds, we can all at least rejoice that we will once more be able to experience life as a pirate.
