According to HBO Max, The Last of Us’ official synopsis is as follows: “The Last of Us, a highly renowned video game created by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation platforms, served as the inspiration for this tale, which takes set twenty years after the destruction of contemporary civilization. A seasoned survivor named Joel is paid to transport a 14-year-old girl named Ellie out of a stifling quarantine zone. They both must travel across the United States and rely on one another for survival, so what begins as a simple assignment quickly turns into a harsh, sad odyssey.”
