There are many distinctive families, animals, and objects in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire realm, and things may become complicated at times. One such thing was referenced during the House of the Dragon premiere and is dubbed Dark Sister.

If you haven’t read any of Martin’s books frequently, you might not know what Dark Sister is, but if you’ve seen the first two seasons of Game of Thrones, you’ve probably heard of it.

Here is all you need to know about Dark Sister, including all the specifics and how this object will relate to House of the Dragon.

What does Dark Sister in the Dragon’s House mean?

Aegon the Conqueror’s powerful sister-wife Visenya Targaryen is the source of the Valyrian steel sword known as Dark Sister, which has been passed down through the generations of the Targaryen family.

The sword is thin and light to maximise its speed when wielded, and it has appeared in both House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. It also has a guard with dragonfly wings on it.

During the War of Conquest, Visenya notably utilised the weapon to help her in combat. After that, it was passed down down the generations, eventually ending up in the possession of a significant character in House of the Dragon.

In House of the Dragon, who has the Dark Sister?

The current owner of Dark Sister in the show is Daemon Targaryen, Viserys I’s the younger brother.

Although it doesn’t appear plausible that Daemon will misplace this sword throughout the course of the season, the sword does disappear after the events of the episode.

The world loses both of House Targaryen’s Valyrian steel swords when Dark Sister vanishes after Daemon, according to the legend related in Tales of Dunk and Egg. Bloodraven is thought to have seized the other Blackfyre after he was deprived of his titles, however, this has not been proven.

Possibly, we shall learn more about the specifics of how Dark Sister disappears during the events of House of the Dragon.
