Alison Brie dispels rumors over her involvement in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The MCU’s new legal comedy by Jessica Gao marks a shift in tone because it increases the variety of genres represented in each of its endeavours. Tatiana Maslany portrays Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk, Bruce Banner’s cousin who has the ability to transform into the Hulk after accidentally ingesting his blood.

Brie refuted rumours that she had been cast or even approached to play She-Hulk in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment’s Kevin Polowy on Twitter. Brie admitted that she has been aware of the allegations for some time; in fact, she has even had fans approach her and express their delight at her participation in a project. However, the truth is that there was simply a lot of disinformation around the project and the actress was never considered for the part.

Brie said, “I have no idea. I don’t know if we’ll ever know if it was legit, it was odd; it was definitely odd. There was like a man, like, in that time period I went to pick up a sandwich at a sandwich shop and there was a man who was like, ‘In just read that you got cast as She-Hulk.’ I was like, ‘well, you’re the first one who has told me about it. Maybe I should check with my agents. There’s a lot of misinformation going on when it came to She-Hulk. But, you know, Tatiana Maslany is such a talent actress; I’m really looking forward to seeing what she does with it… she’s incredible, I love Orphan Black, I watched every episode of that. I think she’s so talented, and the trailers look so fun. I’m excited to watch.”

Although there is no definitive proof that Brie was being considered by Marvel as the model for the Walters casting, it wouldn’t have been the least bit strange if the report were accurate. Brie’s performance as Ruth Wilder/Zoya the Destroya on GLOW not only showcased her impressive physical abilities, but also her ability to portray a complex, intelligent, forward-thinking woman who can spring into action when necessary. This is exactly how She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s Walters, played by Tatiana Maslany, is described.
