The Weeknd, a musician-actor best known by his stage name Abel Tesfaye, and Lily Rose-Depp are the stars of HBO’s upcoming music industry drama The Idol, which has just unveiled a new teaser trailer. The Weeknd’s concert in Las Vegas, which is the penultimate leg of his ongoing After Hours til Dawn Tour, is where the latest official teaser was unveiled, just like the one that was shared last month.

The primary theme in The Idol will be between a budding pop star played by Rose-Depp and a self-help guru (The Weeknd) who covertly runs a contemporary cult. The second teaser, like the first, is filled with sensual visuals that hint at the mood that the show’s co-creator Sam Levinson (Euphoria) has become known for.

All of the main characters, including Jennie Kim from BLACKPINK, who was absent from the previous teaser, are seen in action in the new teaser, which provides a little bit more information. In a scene where she is seen in a sauna with Rose-Depp and the two subsequently go out for a night of wild partying, Jennie’s character, in what will be her acting debut, gives off an angry attitude.

HBO had set the series to premiere in 2022, but no precise release date has been announced. This may be in part because the show recently underwent a significant creative shake-up that resulted in the departure of its original director Amy Seimetz. In order to reflect the creative changes, the show underwent significant reshoots and had certain characters recast. The director, co-creator, and executive producer of Euphoria, Sarah Levinson, will take the position of Seimetz, who is most known for her work on The Killing.
