What We Know So Far About Jason Momoa’s Netflix Movie Slumberland

Slumberland

The upcoming fantasy movie Slumberland is scheduled to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2022. Here’s a detailed breakdown of everything we know so far about Slumberland on Netflix, the Netflix original series starring everyone’s favourite Hawaiian, Jason Momoa.
Francis Lawrence, known for his work on Constantine, I Am Legend, The Hunger Games films, Red Sparrow, and countless music videos, will soon be directing the high-budget fantasy movie Slumberland for Netflix. Jason Momoa, who previously collaborated with Lawrence on the Apple+ TV series See, will play the lead in the movie. The script was written by David Guion and Michael Handelman, a writing team that also collaborated on the films Dinner for Schmucks and Night at the Museum: The Secret Tomb.

Through their production company Chernin Entertainment, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready, who previously collaborated with Lawrence on See and Red Sparrow, produce the movie. This is the company’s first film since its split with Disney/20 Century Studios, according to DiscussingFilm.

What is Slumberland’s storyline?

Slumberland on Netflix will be based on Winsor McCay’s 1905 comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland. The Netflix adaptation will follow a young girl instead of the young boy who is the focus of the plot in the original comic; Nemo will now be called Nema. The movie’s official tagline is as follows:
“In her dreams, a young girl named Nema searches for her missing father in a mystical land with the aid of a sizable half-man, half-monster creature. Nema, who is 11 years old, lives with her father Peter in a lighthouse and has learned to sail. Peter tragically passes away one night during a storm at sea. Nema is made to move in with her distant uncle Philip, who is uninteresting and unrelated to Peter. In her dreams, Nema finds a place called “Slumberland.” She meets Flip (Momoa), a being who claims to have been an outlaw with Peter in the past, robbing things out of peoples’ dreams. When Flip claims to know how to make a wish for her father to come back, Nema decides to embark on an adventure with him.

Who is in the Slumberland cast?

Jason Momoa will play Flip in the Netflix series Slumberland. Flip is a nine-foot-tall hybrid of a man and a beast with shaggy fur and long, curved tusks. CGI will be used to create the creature, and Momoa will perform performance capture. Nemo, the young girl who journeys to a mythical land in search of her missing father, will also be portrayed by aspiring actress Marlow Barkley (Single Parents). Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Argo) and Chris O’Dowd (State of the Union, Moone Boy), both primetime Emmy winners, have also been cast in unnamed roles. India de Beaufort is a new cast member who will play an unnamed role (One Day at a Time).
