Smile: Paramount Pictures reveals a new poster for the upcoming horror film

SMILE trailer

Smile, the intensely frightening debut feature by writer/director Parker Finn, is the opening night movie of Fantastic Fest 2022. On September 30, Smile will be released in theatres, and a brand-new poster was unzipped this afternoon. There are three brand-new images included as well.

The new Smile poster from Paramount Pictures teases that the eerie grin phenomenon is contagious and contains the succinct but terrifying warning, “Once you see it, it’s too late.”

Featuring Sosie Bacon the film recounts the surreal experiences of psychiatrist Dr. Rose Cotter, who observed an incident involving one of her patients. She seeks to find the cause of the horrific killings and the awful wide smiles that appear to be a pandemic and kill those who are afflicted as the occurrence begins to wear on her sanity. The next film by Finn is an adaptation of his 2020 short film Laura Hasn’t Slept, which received immediate acclaim and was given the Midnight Award by the special jury of the SXSW Film Festival.

Caitlin Stasey, who will also have an unspecified role in Smile, starred in the movie. Stasey is the actress who can be the leading lady even when she isn’t taking it. Although October is still a month and a half away, you can anticipate an early Halloween treat from the movie’s gory plot because it has been certified R for its violent violence.

The official synopsis of the film is as follows: “After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”

Additionally, Smile will be Bacon’s first leading role in a major motion picture. In the TV series Scream: The TV Series based on Wes Craven’s Scream franchise, Bacon can also be seen. The cast of Smile is completed by Kyle Gallner, Jessie T. Usher, Robin Weigert, Kal Penn, and Rob Morgan.
