Last season, we didn’t know what Detective Howard would say when he woke up. Another cop donated his bone marrow, and Howard is now in remission with both of his lungs intact. While Howard is recovering, his son/conspiracy killer is spending quality time with his extended family in Virginia. Happy to be reunited with his son, Raquel boarded a flight down I-95 to pick up Kanan.
In a strange way, Kanan was also grieving. The shooting still shook Kanan. Kanan is not really convinced and asks her what would happen if Detective Howard remembered his face. After three months in the hospital, Detective Howard returned home. Committed to finding out what happened the night he was shot, Burke informs Howard that Unique’s whereabouts have been identified, so he is not the shooter. Ever since Unique was framed for Detective Howard’s shooting attempt, the streets have been on fire. So far, Kanan has proven to have more luck than Unique. “It’s good to be gone,” said Kanan.
This is the first family dinner since Kanan left. Outside on the steps, Kanan and Jukebox continued their relaxation session. Kanan was quite surprised that what he did in the park didn’t even show up at dinner. Juke tells him that Raq should never have asked Kanan to take down the detective. When the celebrity walked over to greet his friends, Kanan peeked at Detective Howard as he drove. To everyone’s surprise, Raq considers teaming up with Worrell, one of Unique’s men, to promote Scrap. Detective Howard saw him at the station running his mouth in the investigation room. In the constituency, Howard also realized that his partner wouldn’t stop looking at his case.
Unique got into a fight with three white inmates who were sexually assaulting another inmate. Instead, he actually emphasized what he had said and let Raq know that not only did Kanan confide in him on the way down to Virginia, but he was clearly terrified. Kanan’s return from the bathroom brings Raq and Symphony back to reality. She tests Kanan to see how he really feels, and he is an honest man.
Not just because Unique managed to get out of jail. The call Raq received must have been Howard. After seeing Unique, viewers see Raq return to the same park where Kanan shot Howard. Just then, Detective Howard appeared from the air.
