Zendaya discusses her feelings with Season 3’s Euphoria characters leaving high school. Zendaya, who starred in the drama Euphoria, took on an executive producer role for the HBO drama series’ second season, which she claims helped her break out of her acting shell and gain confidence in front of the camera. The second season of the show had its own set of difficulties that went well beyond the confines of COVID.

Season 2 of Euphoria picked up where season 1 left off after a nearly 3-year break brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Darker storylines forced Rue and her peers to face the repercussions of their actions, dramatically raising the stakes for them. Viewers have noted that the actors now look older than the normal high school student due to the cast receiving so much media attention since the show’s 2019 debut. To make matters worse, it has been said that season 3 of Euphoria won’t start filming until 2024 due to Zendaya’s hectic shooting schedule, which will further advance the cast’s age.

Zendaya, the series’ star and executive producer, made a hint that the third season would completely omit the high school setting in favour of following the characters outside of its walls in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. When questioned about her expectations for the third season, Zendaya responded, “I think it’ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school.” She continued, “I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look.”

However, her predictions went beyond the future of her own role, adding, “with all the characters, in the sense where they’re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be.” She added, “What was special about this season,” she said, “was that we got to dive into (the other characters) in a much deeper sense.”

Given that the third season may not be available until 2024, a jump in the timeframe only makes sense for that season. A time jump might also allow the show to more thoroughly explore its characters and the effects of their choices throughout the course of the first two seasons, as Zendaya has suggested. Without a doubt, the series has never been hesitant to experiment with its plot. But what the upcoming season will bring cannot be predicted ahead of time.
