We now have a trailer for the upcoming set of episodes of Rick and Morty, which will return to Adult Swim on September 4. The new teaser provides a sneak peek at the cosmic mayhem of the upcoming season, which will debut on Adult Swim on September 4 and feature the entire Sanchez/Smith family drama.

The trailer opens en media res, like so many Rick and Morty episodes do, with Morty and Rick leaning against a wall in the middle of a laser gun battle with an unidentified opponent. In order to lift their spirits, Rick summons his dependable ship to play a song. Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” starts playing over a sequence of glimpses into various tragic circumstances, starting with Rick warning that the family is soon to “vanish from reality.”

In 2013, Adult Swim aired the series Rick and Morty for the first time. The show follows Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty as they travel through space, time, and other dimensions on a daily basis. His interactions with his brilliant daughter, his unfortunate son-in-law, and his granddaughter Summer are all explored in the show, as well as how his garage-based lab and propensity to carry his work home with him affects the entire family. The sitcom-style series became a cult favourite almost right away. However, it has developed into a cultural phenomenon in the nine years following its initial release.

Season 6 will be an exciting adventure, if the trailer is any indication. That is supported by co-creator Justin Roiland, who told IGN, “I will say that it’s a bit more canonical. It really rewards fans of the show that have been watching up to this point…So it’s like, I think we’re kind of finally back into the rhythm of Rick and Morty, and I think Season 6 is… I didn’t particularly think Season 5 was bad, but Season 6 is f***ing amazing. It really is a f****ing quality season.”

Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are the minds behind Rick and Morty. In addition to Justin Roiland as Rick Sanchez, Chris Parnell as Jerry Smith, Spencer Grammer as Summer Smith, Sarah Chalke as Beth Smith, Maurice LaMarche as Morty, and Kari Wahlgren as Jessica make up the majority of the voice cast for the show. The show has established itself as both a critical and economic success, giving rise to countless merchandise options, licenced goods, and an extensive selection of Funko Pops. The sixth season will debut on Adult Swim on September 4 in less than a month.
