glamorous

Glamorous, a new Damon Wayans Jr. series about a gender-nonconforming gay young man who must determine what he wants from life, who he truly is, and what it means to be queer, has been picked up by Netflix. Here is a summary of all the information we currently have on the series.
When it was initially announced in November 2018, Glamorous was initially intended to be a CW series. Brooke Shields and Peyton List starred in a pilot that was filmed in 2019. After consideration, the CW cancelled the series in June 2019 because it was not picked up. The project was transferred to Netflix in April 2022 with a full series order. Jordon Nardino and Damon Wayans Jr., co-executive producers of Quantico and Star Trek: Discovery, are behind the drama series. The 10-part drama series, which is also executive produced by Wayans Jr. and Kameron Tarlow of Two Shakes Entertainment, is written and produced by Nardino.

What’s Glamorous’ storyline?

The story of Marco Mejia, a gender-nonconforming gay young man whose life appears to be trapped in place until he obtains a job working for famed beauty mogul Madolyn Addison, is told in Netflix’s Glamorous. It’s Marco’s first chance to find out what he wants out of life, who he is, and what it means to be gay.
The following is a detailed overview of the new series:
A drama centred on Marco Mejia (Benny), a gender nonconforming high school graduate who obtains the internship of a lifetime at a cosmetics company whose products he trashed on YouTube. Madolyn Addison, the CEO, entrepreneur, and founder of Glamorous Cosmetics, as well as a former supermodel, developed one of the world’s top cosmetic firms from the bottom up. However, something has recently occurred. The corporation isn’t simply falling; it’s plummeting, as if it’s being sabotaged from within. Madolyn, not to be outdone, hires Marco as her summer intern right out of high school. She has a plan: she wants him to be her eyes and ears, to make friends, and to figure out what’s going on behind her back, to figure out “what they’re hiding and what they’re stealing.” In exchange, she promises to teach Marco everything she knows, but warns him, “This profession isn’t all glitter and glamour, and neither is life.”

Who is the cast of Glamorous?

Ben J. Pierce aka Miss Benny, an actor, singer, and YouTuber, will reprise their role as Marco Mejia from the shelved CW pilot Glamorous. Pierce has also been in Fuller House, Guidance, Love, Victor, and other shows.
Kim Cattrall, who played Madolyn Addison in Sex and the City, will join Pierce as a series regular. Ayesha Harris (The L Word: Generation Q), Graham Parkhurst (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), Jade Payton (Daybreak), Zane Phillips (Legacies), and Michael Hsu Rosen have all been cast as series regulars (Pretty Smart).

When will Glamorous be available on Netflix?

We learned via Production Weekly that pre-production began in May and that filming would begin several weeks later, in July 2022. Glamorous is many weeks into filming at the time of the update, having begun on July 7th, 2022. Filming will last a couple months before ending on November 11th, 2022.
Netflix hasn’t revealed any release dates for Glamorous, but given a probable Summer 2022 production start date, we may expect the series to arrive on the streaming service sometime in 2023. It has been reported that Netflix’s Glamorous would have ten one-hour episodes in its first season.
