The creators of The Crown are currently working on a new Netflix series called Palomino. The female-led thriller series is set to start filming in September 2022, and below, we’ll cover what we currently know about it. The first season of the show, which will consist of 8 episodes, was first announced by Variety in February 2022.

Who is behind Netflix’s Palomino?

As a writer and showrunner, Jack Lothian is in charge of the production. Lothian has worked on a number of high-profile TV productions over the years, including the very successful ITV series Doc Martin (which is no longer available on Netflix) and, most recently, Sky One’s Strike Back (again for Left Bank Pictures).

Executive producers include Andy Harries, Naula O’Leary, Rob Bullock, Jack Lothian, and Sharon Hughff.
Other Netflix-related projects are also being developed by Sony Pictures Television subsidiary Left Bank Pictures. The Crown will return in November 2022; they are currently working on it. The Crown is apparently getting a spinoff as well. Additionally, they are working on The Fuck It Bucket for Netflix. Network executive Lindsay Salt, who joined Netflix in 2019 from Sky Drama, is working on the project.

Palomino: What to Expect

“Palomino will follow Erin Collantes, a British teacher living in Spain who becomes involved in a supermarket robbery.” Her life is threatened when one of the robbers claims to recognise her. She must strive to defend her name and preserve her family in Palomino, a town of secrets.”
The main character, Erin Collantes, will be a POC female between the ages of 25 and 35. Here’s some more information about the character from a cast grid:

“Erin’s life is nothing out of the usual. She is a subsitute teacher of English heritage who lives in a gated neighbourhood in Spain with a charming boyfriend and a lively daughter. Her life is quiet and straightforward. However, her life is flipped upside down by a violent chance encounter in Palomino, near Barcelona. She survives while nearly killing the perpetrator… It’s a shame the CCTV was turned on… They’re currently in the hospital, and when they wake up, will they tell the cops? Is there more to Erin’s life than she’s revealing?”

When will Palomino’s filming begin?

Originally scheduled to last from March to August 2022, production “kicks off filming in a few months,” according to Lothian in a Tweet. According to recent reports, filming would start on September 5th, 2022, last for many weeks, and then wrap up on October 31st, 2022. Dates for filming could change, as usual.
