In the new Amazon series “The Horror of Dolores Roach,” Cyndi Lauper has agreed to play a recurring guest role. Lauper will participate in the series alongside cast members Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, K. Todd Freeman, Marc Maron, Jean Yoon, Judy Reyes, and Jeffery Self in addition to the already revealed lead Justina Machado.

Among Lauper’s earlier roles as an actor include those in the 2014 films Henry & Me and The Opportunists, both of which were directed by Barrett Esposito. After serving 16 years in prison, Dolores is released, and the series will follow her. She moved in with her friend Luis because she has few friends to turn to for assistance. Luis permits Dolores to offer massages in the cellar of his Empanada Loca shop so that she can earn money. The connection between Dolores and Luis, on the other hand, grows more perilous as she achieves success.

The series’ showrunners will be Aaron Mark and Dara Resnik. The Gimlet podcast series, which Mark also created and oversaw, served as its inspiration. Previous projects by Resnik include I Love Dick on Prime Video, Daredevil on Netflix, and Home Before Dark on Apple TV+. Roxann Dawson was the episode’s director. 2019’s Breakthrough, Apple TV+’s Foundation, and Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angles are among the films that Dawson has previously directed.

Executive producer Dawson will also serve. GloNation Studios’ Gloria Galderón Kellet will serve as an executive producer for the show. Executive producers will also include Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, and Jeremy Gold of Blumhouse Televisions. Executive producers for Spotify will include Daphne Rubin-Vega, Dawn Ostroff, Mimi O’Donnell, and Justin McGoldrick . The series will include eight episodes in total.
