The Wilds, a television series about a group of teenagers who escape a plane crash and must find a way to survive in the wilderness, has been cancelled, according to an announcement made today by Amazon Prime. The show has only been on the air for two seasons. The series was created by Sarah Streicher and produced by the late Jamie Tarses, who passed away in 2021.

The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys Present: Diabolical, Invincible, and Shelter are just a few of the currently airing and upcoming young adult series that Prime Video is committed to. The show The Wilds was among the first batch of young adult pilots that Prime Video picked up. The Wilds, in particular, debuted as the first young-adult series on Prime Video and the first to go to a second season.

The show focused on a group of girls who had to eke out an existence on a remote island after surviving a plane disaster. A group of boys were introduced to the island by the second. After a successful first season premiere in December 2020, the show quickly secured a second season renewal. In May 2022, the second season made its debut to much more subdued reviews.

Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Mia Healey, Helena Howard, Erana James, and Sarah Pidgeon are the stars of the show as the survivors of the main crash who struggle out an existence on a remote island. In a supporting role, Rachel Griffiths plays an enigmatic woman who oversees the empowerment retreat the survivors were travelling to when their plane went down.

Zack Calderon, Aidan Laprete, Nicholas Coombe, Charles Alexander, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Reed Shannon, Tanner Ray Rook, and Alex Fitzalan are among the second batch of survivors that joined the show’s ensemble in season 2. Along with being the series creator, Streicher also worked as executive producer. The late Tarses, through Fanfare, and Dylan Clark, through his Dylan Clark Productions, are two additional executive producers on the project. Disney Television Studios’ ABC Signature and Amazon Studios jointly produced the show.
